A nurse is a person who gives so completely, with touches to heal, always smiling so sweetly,There's no way to figure such value or worth... A nurse is an angel who walks on the earth.

About our Nurses...

Chris Pierson RN,BSN, NCSN is the School Nurse Supervisor for the Dekalb County School System.  Mrs. Pierson received her nursing degree from the Ida V. Moffet School of Nursing at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.   She became a national certified school nurse in July 2007.  She is an active member of the Alabama School Nurse Association (AASN) and the National School Nurse Association (NASN),  Mrs. Pierson strives to work with the students, parents and the staff of the DeKalb County Board of Education to provide the health services needed in our school system.

At DeKalb County Technology Center, Mrs. April Phillips, RN, is the full-time nurse and is available to provide care when needed. Mrs. Phillips graduated from Northeast Community College with a nursing degree after recieving a business administration degree. Mrs. Phillips also works providing technology support at her school. She designed and maintains the DeKalb County Technology Center website and the DeKalb County School Nurses website. Mrs. Phillips has been the school nurse since 2006. Mrs. Phillips has been married since 1997, and has two children. As the nurse, she enjoys helping the students and working with a great staff.

My name is Julie Needham and I am the Crossville School Nurse.  I serve both Crossville High School and Crossville Elementary.  I graduated from The Universtiy of Alabama in Huntsville in 2006 with a BSN in Nursing and have been a school nurse at Crossville since December 2006.  I also worked at the Ft. Payne Hospital in Labor and Delivery for a short time. Although they seem like two extremes I have enjoyed both tremendously. There are people at both places that have made it worth while to come to work.   I hope to continue working with children in the schools and helping them to be as healthy and happy as possible.

Carol Ray, LPN, at Collinsville High School and Elementary enjoys being the full-time nurse and working with the children. Mrs. Ray graduated from South Antral Michigan School of Nursing. She has been a school nurse for 6 years. Her goal is to be there for the students both physically and mentally.

Mrs. Kim Hale, RN, is the nurse at Ider School. She serves both elementary and high school. Kim graduated from Northeast Alabama Community College in 1984. She is married and has 3 children, all boys. Kim has been the nurse at Ider for 5 years and she really loves her job. Kim says she loves the feeling that she is helping the children at her school.

Andrea Hastings, LPN, is the nurse at both Moon Lake and Ruhama. She graduated from Northeast College. Andrea is married. She loves to be around kids and loves her job as a nurse. She has been a nurse for 3 years and plans to continue for many more.

Mrs. Kelly Bryson, RN, is the Plainview School Nurse. Kelly graduated from Holy Name of Jesus School of Nursing. She is married to Wally Bryson and has 2 kids. Kelly has been a nurse for 22 years and then a school nurse for 5 years. She worked in the OB department as well as the Health Department. Kelly says "I love working with the kids and helping them when they are sick".
