Mission Statement

To foster the growth, development and educational achievement of Alabama’s Students by promoting their health and well-being through Alabama School Health Services.  We will monitor health status and identify and address the unmet needs of students, families, and school personnel.  We will build public and private partnerships to ensure quality, compassionate nursing services that are effective, culturally appropriate, and responsive to the diverse and changing needs of student and their communities.

Philosophy of School Health

The purpose of the DeKalb County Schools health services is to meet the health needs of each individual student, staff, and school personnel. Insuring proper health of each individual in the school system enhances ones ability to learn. Policies and guidelines , in conjunction with the State Board of Education and other agencies, are developed and implemented by the DeKalb County Board of Education. Local policy books are available through the Central Office in Rainsville, Alabama.
