Special Education in DeKalb County School System provides services for students, ages 3 to 21, identified in at least one of 13 disability areas:  Deaf-Blind, Emotional Disturbance, Hearing Impaired, Mentally Retarded, Multiple Disabilities, Orthopedically Impaired, Other Health Impaired, Specific Learning Disabilities, Speech and Language Impaired, Visually Impaired, Autism, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Developmentally Delayed.  Services are provided in accordance with the federal and state mandates. If you need additional information about referring your child for an evaluation or special education services, you may contact Pam Gann, Special Education Coordinator, at 256.638.4131.  You may also contact the principal or counselor at your child’s school.
