Message from the Child Nutrition Director
Welcome to the DeKalb County Schools Child Nutrition Program! We believe that good nutrition is the foundation for student success. Every meal we serve is an opportunity to nourish growing minds, fuel learning, and help every child reach their full potential.
This school year, our theme is Keeping It Real: Real Food, Real Purpose, Real Success. It reflects our commitment to providing wholesome, nutritious meals made with quality ingredients while creating positive dining experiences that encourage healthy habits for life. We know that when students have access to balanced meals, they are better prepared to learn, participate, and thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Our dedicated Child Nutrition team works hard each day to serve meals that meet high nutrition standards while offering students a variety of foods they enjoy. We are continually looking for ways to improve our menus, promote nutrition education, and support the overall wellness of every student we serve.

ParentSquare
All schools in our district use ParentSquare for school communication primarily with email, text, and app notifications.
ParentSquare automatically syncs with our student information system to generate an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number. We encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified.

Parents and community stakeholders are invited to participate as members of the DeKalb County Wellness Policy Committee. We meet annually to update and review our Wellness Policy. Please contact Mrs. Eryn Thrash, CNP Director, at aethrash@dekalbk12.org or 256-638-6921, to participate.
